1. Who We Are
Studipedia is an online, educational platform built for students who are preparing for their GCSEs and A-Levels. We provide access to past papers, a knowledge base in the form of a wiki, flashcards, quizzes, and an exam builder. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our services.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect data that is needed to run this service. When you create an account, we receive:
- 1. Your Name
- 2. Your Email Address
- 3. Your Username
- 4. Your Password
- 5. Your IP Address and device session information
When signing in we may also receive data from Google OAuth and Firebase Authentication such as your verified email and account identifier. Firebase Authentication handles user registration, login, and account management securely. Your authentication data is processed in accordance with Firebase's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Some features (like browsing past papers) do not require an account. However, account-based and high-usage tools have rate limits, which can only be extended for logged-in users. Paid plans are processed through Stripe, which acts as an independent payment controller. We never store or have access to full payment card information.
We use account details to authenticate you, save personal data such as flashcards, exam builder settings, and quiz progress. We also log IP addresses associated with your account sessions. This is strictly used to prevent abuse of the platform, enforce rate limits, and ensure account security. You can view active sessions and the associated IP addresses in your profile settings at any time.
We do not sell user data to exam boards, schools, or any other third parties.
3. Cookies And Locally Stored Data
Your browser may store data locally for things like:
- 1. Keeping you signed in (via Firebase Authentication)
- 2. Saving dark mode preferences
- 3. Caching your learning tools and settings
You can clear these inside your browser at any time, though features may reset when you do.
4. Analytics And Usage Tracking
To understand how Studipedia is being used, we use Google Analytics and internal usage metrics. These tools collect information such as device type, page visits, and general interaction patterns. This data is not linked to your account and cannot identify you individually.
5. Advertising
Studipedia uses Google Ads. Personalised ads are only shown if you specifically agree through our cookie consent banner. If you decline, you will only see non-personalised ads. Advertising is how we keep Studipedia free and open to access, and the paid plans cheaper.
6. Data Sharing
We share minimal data with some third party providers in order to give you the best possible experience through the operation of this website:
- Cloudflare - for file serving and security
- Stripe - for payment processing
- Firebase - for authentication services
- Google - for analytics and optional OAuth sign-in
These services receive only the data to fulfil their roles, and will not use your data for marketing. We never share individual usage data with schools, exam boards, advertisers, or sponsors. Your data is processed in accordance with their privacy policies.
7. User Generated Content
Some features allow users to create study material. This content is moderated, and if it is published publicly, your username may appear alongside it. You can request to have contributions anonymised or removed.
8. Your Rights
As a UK-based service, you are protected by UK data protection law. You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Review active sessions and revoke access for unrecognized IP addresses
- Request deletion of your account and related data
If you request deletion, we will remove your data within three working days and confirm via email.
To make a deletion request, contact [email protected]
